Leonardo Dacanay is the founder and director of Bellevue Eye Medical Center and is a Board-certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist in the downtown Berkeley area whose clinic interests and specialties include refractive cataract surgery and the treatment of various eyelid issues.
Dr. Dacanay earned his medical degree and completed his residency in ophthalmology at UCLA. He is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
Christie Mackenzie, OD
Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry
Christie Mackenzie, OD, FAAO is the newest eyecare provider at Bellevue Eye Medical Center working alongside Dr. Leonardo Dacanay to provide comprehensive and community oriented eye care.
Dr. Mackenzie earned her optometry degree at the State University of New York and completed her ocular disease residency at both the Veterans Affairs Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is currently a member of the California Optometric Association. She has been awarded the Dr. Benjamin Freed Memorial Award for strong community engagement.
Prior to Bellevue Eye Medical Center she worked alongside ophthalmology in Baltimore and in York County Pennsylvania. She is well trained in glaucoma management and comfortable managing a variety of other eye conditions.
Dr. Mackenzie grew up in the East Bay and is thrilled to be back in California to provide excellent and compassionate eye care to the Berkeley community. She is currently taking new patients and emergency referrals.
